Well, I did it. I’ve spent the last six months of the pandemic writing that stress book I’ve mentioned since my family’s house fire back in 2017.
This is my first nonfiction book, and I’m THRILLED to share it with you! It’s called …
“When Life Feels like a House Fire: Transforming Your COVID-19 Stress.”

It’s 200 pages that explains how to pinpoint your unique stress patterns. How and why these are affecting you physically, emotionally, behaviorally and psychologically.
Your Stress Patterns Are Everything
Book Description: If you’ve struggled with anxiety, disrupted sleep, foggy brain, loss of time, the inability to focus since the Coronavirus upended the world – it’s not your imagination. Your physical aches and pains are real, too. Maybe you’ve suffered low-grade to full-blown depression. Maybe you’ve turned to bad behaviors to cope, like overeating or no appetite at all, overdrinking, hours of binge-watching TV or scrolling through social media. This doesn’t include possible tensions with family, friends and strangers over masks, politics, protests and much more.
There is a scientific reason and root cause behind your COVID-19 stress, anxieties and behaviors, but it’s not what you think. The answers are connected to the past.
Your past.
These coping strategies have kept you from living your best life, even before 2020. The book has worksheets, exercises and assignments in the book to help you discover the root cause behind your anxieties.
Marcy McKay shares what she learned after her family experienced a house fire in 2017, and her life unraveled. Sending her on a journey to Humpty Dumpty herself back together again. What she learned changed her forever, making her the perfect guide on how to thrive during a crisis.
Uncover your stress patterns to enjoy more health, happiness and success, even amidst a global pandemic … because life shouldn’t feel like a house fire.
But, Wait! There’s More
I’ll also have a free online course at Teachable.com with downloadable worksheets, and exercises from the book, as well as videos guiding you throughout the process.
2020 = StReSsFuL
Our house fire upended my life in ways I never expected. When I started bread-crumbing for solutions … the answers were so revolutionary that I became a life coach so others wouldn’t have to suffer alone.
COVID-19 is traumatizing people, and most don’t understand what’s happening to them. Since the pandemic hit … folks I know and care about have contracted the disease or have had family members die from it. Others have lost jobs. I know my family has been impacted financially. Friends have divorced. More than one has gone to rehab for alcoholism and/or substance abuse. Parents are struggling with teens with eat disorders, self-harm (cutting), while stress and anxiety disorders have skyrocketed. Suicide rates are higher than ever.
This doesn’t include so many other challenging issues like working from home, home-schooling, kids at school, or a combination of both. For those of us in the United States, we’re enduring a divisive presidential election, and so many other social-justice issues. Facebook feels like a battleground!
We are truly living through epic times. You need to understand your stress patterns to not just survive. I want you to thrive.

Whaaaaaat About Your Fiction?
Believe me, I have not forgotten about Copper Daniels and her rag-tag group of friends. This stress book just would not be ignored.
Look for Copper’s third and final story in 2021. After that, I want to write the trilogy about her other friend, Tommy “Turdmouth” Tucker, then O’Dell the cemetery groundskeeper. Stay tuned!

The beautiful little 4-yr-old I made chocolate chip cookies for and took to PDC with my beautiful 4-yr-old is now a beautiful, brilliant, ageless visionary. Cover picture is a perfect depiction of her easy elegance.
Thank you so much, Sally. You’re definitely one of the people who loved me growing up, and empowered me to do/be more than I thought was possible. I appreciate your excitement!
I like the cover it looks sleek yet unobtrusive and I can not wait to read it.
Great word for my cover, Kendra. Unobtrusive. Totally the look/vibe I was going for. THANK YOU for your excitement! I’ll keep you posted.
Wow, your cover and description is amazing. You are such a great person and you’re doing so much for so many. Thank you Marcy.
You’re too kind, Tonya, but we both understand the importance of being of service to others. I hope this book blesses others the way the info inside has influenced me! xoxoxoxo – m3
Oh Marcy, you are a wonder! Congrats on a job well done, stress and all! Bless you and yours!
Hellllllllo, Kathy. You’re super sweet, but you know I like to shake and bake and keep busy. This book has given me purpose during COVID, which I reallllly needed + I wanted to share this info with others. I MISS YOU! xoxoxo
Congratulations 🎉 Wishing you great success. The cover and description are intriguing enough that you should have lots of people wanting to read it.
I’m glad you like my cover/concept for the book, Mickey. I really am pleased with it, and hope others feel the same way! 🙂
Hi Marcy! I am very intrigued and will look forward to reading your book. Your description is speaking to me loudly right now. I like the cover, someone used unobtrusive…I agree. Unobtrusive, yet direct. And the color (along with the type style) pushes towards urgency (red being the most urgent), but doesn’t get there, so leaves room for hope and possibility. Congratulations, can’t wait to read it!
Helllllllo, Kristen. Everything you said about my cover is 100% the vibe I was going for – TY. The main thing I want readers to leave with is HOPE. NO MATTER WHAT has happened to you, you can always change your stress patterns, so that you respond differently to whatever life throws our way. I believe that with all my heart. xoxoxo – m3
I agree, the cover is intriguing. A house fire definitely is a very stressfull and scary thing. I watched my neighbors house burn several years ago and I never forgot that feeling.
I’ve been living with a lot of stress for some time and I’m looking forward to reading it. Thanks Marcy.
I’m so glad you like the cover. Most have never experienced a house fire literally, but I think many have figuratively — a death, a divorce, a diagnosis. Drama seems to find all of us at some point, and definitely during COVID. I hope my book helps you.
I love the cover! The color, the big to small lettering and especially the title. It really pulled me in, in an authentic kind of way not a ‘salesy” one. I was intrigued by the verbiage and your house fire tie in and I can’t wait to read and learn and heal. xoxo Love ya, friend. xoxox
Mmmmm, love, love, love that word – authentic. That’s the highest compliment you could give me. Thank you so much. I’m excited to share this book with others. I really hope it helps a lot of people struggling these days. Love ya back.
Great cover! Congratulations on the completion of your endeavor.
Thanks Alice. As an artist, your opinion means so much to me … I’m thrilled you like it. xo – Marcy
